Preparation courses in Hungary

Some international students may not be able to attend a degree in Hungary because their previous studies do not match the academic system of the country. To be allowed to take an undergraduate or graduate degree in Hungary, they will need to enrol in a one-year pre-Bachelor or pre-Master offered by a local university.

Popular foundation degree studies in Hungary include pre-law degrees, pre-MBA courses, pre-medicine, pre- nursing studies, or other types of international foundation programmes in engineering, economics, finance, social science, science and other types of university pathway programmes. Preparation courses in Hungary include academic English language training to help international students meet university language requirements for future undergraduate or graduate studies.

Foundation degrees in early years in Hungary are perfect for increasing your chances of getting accepted to a Hungarian university. Pre-university business schools, law schools or med schools make sure international students develop the skills they need to succeed in the Hungarian academic system. Pre-university education also includes cultural integration classes that help students feel more at home. Some pre-university programmes guarantee enrolment to the institution if students complete the preparation with high grades.

Language Requirements
English

If the language of instruction is English, you will be requested to prove your level of command of the English language. For this purpose, you may present the results obtained at internationally recognized examinations, such as the IELTS \ TOEFL test, or pass an exam at the Hungarian institution where you will be studying.

Ielts not required but the student must have the necessary level of English to follow the course. Pre-courses available including English classes to help the students to improve their English to achieve the necessary level of English.

What are the English language requirements for a foundation degree?

Higher education institutions need to make sure that your English language skills are up to the level demanded by university studies. All international students who want to sign up for a preparation course taught in English are required to prove sufficient English language proficiency.IELTS or TOEFL preparation are the most commonly accepted English language tests, but other options may also be offered (for example PTE-Pearson Test of English or Cambridge). Usually, the preferred English level varies depending on the degree course students apply for. According to a recent research study made by StudyPortals, most universities worldwide accept:

 Minimum overall IELTS score of 5.0 - 33.56% of preparation courses require this band score.

 The most common general accepted TOEFL score is an average of IBT 71 or around 530 for the paper- based test.

Preparation courses for Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees are suitable for a wide range of abilities in spoken or written English and include interactive learning, self-study, assignments, projects and online activities.

Information on Proof of English required for course acceptance & visa approval

A student must be able to demonstrate a proficiency in English to be accepted on to a course. Some countries and colleges insist that the student is able to prove their level of English by ielts.

The number of countries that accept students who do not have proof of English by IELTS (or equivalent test) are limited. Most countries, at this stage, seek proof of English for course \ visa acceptance.

If a student has not got proof of his proficiency in English, most colleges will require a student to be able to prove their level of english is to the level required to follow the course by one or more of the following…

• Have you completed a course or your school education through english?

• Have you taken English as a subject in exams ? If so, what results did you achieve?

• Skype interview

• An in house College test

Students need to be aware that when applying for a visa, some countries then hold an interview with the student at the nearest embassy. At that stage, the student often has to be able to show that their English is to the level required to successfully attend their chosen course and will be able to follow it without difficulty. Some of the visa interviews are held in English to ensure this is the case.

A few countries in europe will allow a student in with poor English provided they are initially undertaking a Foundation course or English course to improve their English to the level required for onward progression to their chosen course

To properly assess an enquiry & assist the student, we need to know the following;

Please provide us with as much information as possible about yourself & what you are seeking so we can help you.

1. What type of course are you seeking? … duration etc

2. What education qualifications have you ... including results\marks? This is important re the type of course you wish to apply for.

*Additional information required for student interested in studying a Postgraduate \Masters course: Details of university \college where undergraduate degree obtained. Duration: No of semesters \ No years of course. Credits achieved. Marks \results achieved.

3. What level of English do you have? .. Have you ielts or equivalent? If you do not have ielts, what marks in English do you have in your exams?

4. What is your nationality?

5. What country would you like to study in?

6. Course commencement: Have you a preference re start date? (many courses & colleges only have one intake a year in September\October)

On receipt of the above information, we then assess the student’s qualifications and taking account of their wishes send a report back in relation to available options etc . We will suggest relevant courses and Colleges that will suit the student requirements.
